I’m Back!

March 17, 2010 at 4:08 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 4 Comments

It seems like I go through blogging spurts – I’ll blog every day then I disappear for months at a time.  Well, I’m back!  I have recently made some awesome things that I feel need to be shared with everyone.

I am also going to kind of revamp the content on this blog.  Don’t worry, I’ll still post all of my desserts and comfort foods but I want to start sharing the more healthy side of me with my readers.  I have had a lot of friends ask me what I eat in a typical day, what I eat for snacks, etc.  I would say I lead a healthy lifestyle about 90% of the time.  I still eat pizza and drink wine, don’t get me wrong but most of the time I eat pretty clean and workout regularly.  My great friend Kat has helped me tremendously in maintaining a lifestyle that I feel good about – check out her blog as well.  Great food and workout tips!

Stay tuned for yummy recipes coming up soon!  I’ll try to keep up with this a little better now!

Yoo hoo…where are you?!?!

I have been MIA.  I apologize.  However, so many exciting things going on in my life!!  We have bought a house, are selling our current house and our other piece of land, we have bought a new puppy, AND a friend and I are starting a business.  That’s right – a custom cookie and couture cupcake business!  So, though I will still update this when I make something fabulous, in the meantime, check out the blog for La Marie’s Confections!  Website coming soon.

See you all soon!

We get on the most random conversation topics at my work, I swear.  We are currently working on something that has need for Hostess and Little Debbie cakes (I work in advertising) so we have about 20 boxes of this stuff laying around the office.  We started talking about these things today and someone brought up Chocodiles.  I was like, what in the world are Chocodiles?!  Apparently these are chocolate covered Twinkies and they were way more popular about 20-25 years ago than they are now.  They sound pretty gross to me, but I had to look them up.

They look like poo in my opinion.  However, one of my co-workers and now my husband are wanting these things.  However, upon studying further on the website http://www.freshchocodiles.com/, I learned that they only sell these on the west coast.  So…..next weekend I happen to be seeing some of my friends who are from the west coast.  MAYBE one of them would buy me a box and bring them and I can pay them back?!?  : )  I would have a lot of happy people around me…

E for Excellent!

March 28, 2008 at 1:39 am | Posted in Uncategorized | 7 Comments

I have seen other blogs get this “E For Excellent” award before and thought it was very cool.  So imagine how cool it was when I saw that someone had given me this award?!  Jen at The Look 4 Less awarded me with this recently and it made my day!  Jen is such a sweetheart and her blog is AWESOME!  If you haven’t seen it before – shame on you!  Make it a favorite!  : )  Thank you Jen!!!!

In the spirit of this award, I am now supposed to list 5 of my favorite blogs in no particular order and award them an “E” for “Excellent”.  I have SOO many blogs that I just love, so I will try to narrow it down to 5, but I could easily list about 20…  : )

1.  BB’s Fantabulous Life:  Amanda’s blog is so fun!  This is a blog not only about her trials and tribulations with cooking but also her life which definitely has some funny moments.  She is one of the funniest people that I know!

2.  Born to Entertain:  I really like Andrea’s blog for a couple of reasons.  One, she is awesome.  HA!  Two, she is my twin.  It is so bizarre how many things that we have in common!!  Three, her food tastes are very similar to mine – she loves good food, but she also likes to watch what she eats, so I love to look at her blog for great recipes.  Especially good pasta recipes.

3.  Frantic Home Cook:  If you haven’t been to this blog – GO NOW!  I love it!  Awesome recipes, easy recipes mixed in with no so easy ones, good kid food, and most of all hilarious blog entries.  I love this one! (Mom, you will like this one!)

4.  Irish Girl who Cooks and Drinks:  Kat is such an inspiration to me – she is a personal trainer and nutritionist who owns her own gym – what an awesome career!  Her blog is full of great healthy recipes and I love to make them.  Her Fancy Fast Chicken has become a staple in our house!

5.  Jamie’s Life -LIfe is Hard:  Jamie is just funny.  Period.  She cracks me up every day and her blog is the same way.  : )

NFR: The Aforementioned Bunny

March 28, 2008 at 1:00 am | Posted in Uncategorized | 3 Comments

As I mentioned in my “random” post below, we have a bunny who has become fond of our back yard.  He is there every morning and every evening and has been for about two weeks now.  Somewhere along the way he went from, “Oh look, there is a bunny in our yard!,” to someone who I consider to be a pet and someone who I look forward to seeing every day.  : )

I was talking to my good friend Clara who actually has two pet bunnies, about how to care for him.  I was asking her if I could give him any particular snacks.  She sent me an awesome list of things so I promptly went outside and put some baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, and romaine lettuce in our yard.  It was funny because the first day the stuff was out there, the bunny didn’t go near it.  The next day though, not only did that bunny go near it, but there were TWO bunnies!!!  : )

Here is a kind of not so good pic of Bunny #1 (which I might add Will has named “Go Fish”…can you tell my mom just taught him how to play Go Fish?!)

The bunnies haven’t been in the yard for the past two days now, but it’s been raining so hopefully they are hiding out somewhere.  I want them to come back!!! I love them!  : )

NFR: Other priorities…

March 7, 2008 at 12:25 am | Posted in Uncategorized | 9 Comments

As I mentioned, I have been pretty busy, therefore not blogging as much.  One of the things keeping me busy are my kids (well, stepkids, but same thing for me).   They come to our house every other weekend, and two nights during the week so we actually get to spend quite a bit of time with them.

As you have seen, they love to cook and bake with me, especially Sheridan.  Our favorite meal to cook together is breakfast – Sheridan will literally skip doing other activities just to stay home and cook and eat a big breakfast with me.  : )

They definitely keep us busy – Will is playing indoor soccer now (he LOVES sports!), Sheridan is busy with school things, etc.  So, as a proud stepmom, I feel that I need to show them off on here every now and again.  That time has come my friends!

This past Sunday we had unseasonably warm weather outside – it was 75 degrees in the middle of winter!  Usually it is 35 if we are lucky.  The kids and I played outside ALL day.  Will was SO excited to ride his bike and put on all of his gear… (ham much?!)

Sheridan is not so into sports and outdoor things but she loves anything art related and is a really good student.  This past week she was awarded the “Student of the Month” award at her school!  She was incredibly proud (so were we!)

(You know you want tights like that…I do!!!)

I hope you enjoyed…I am sure there is much more of it where this came from!

I’ve been tagged – AGAIN! :)

February 18, 2008 at 12:06 am | Posted in Uncategorized | 4 Comments
Looks like I was tagged by the one and only Clara again, so off we go….!These are the rules:
1. Link to your tagger and post these rules.
2. Share 5 facts about yourself
3. Tag 5 people at the end of your post and list their names (linking to them).
4. Let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment at their blogs.
1. I am a sucker for celebrity gossip and always have been
– Yes, it’s true. I religiously read TMZ, Perez, JustJared, People, etc. If there is celebrity gossip, I am your girl to go to get it. Even as a child I was sending off for “autographed postcards” of people like Fred Savage, Mark Paul Gosslear, Mario Lopez, etc. And yes, I do still have the postcards taped in a scrapbook somewhere. : )

2. My degree is Advertising and I minored in Communications and Psychology
– ….but I still do not know what I want to do with my life. I pretty much feel like those degrees are wasted at this point. I should have gotten a degree in something that I would love and be useful in my life like interior design. Hm. Hindsight….

3. My husband is 10 years and 4 months older than me
– Age truly is just a number in my book. 🙂 You meet someone, you fall in love, who cares if they are 10 years older than you?? We never even notice it except when talking about things like childhood toys or shows. LOL

4. I am highly allergic to seafood
– I don’t swell up like an actual pufferfish, but it’s a stomach thing with me. I thought as I got older I could change it, however, after trying a round of calamari and a round of grouper, I decided the idea of trying ever again was “no bueno”. Unfortunate because I like to eat some of it :/

5. I actually like to clean
– Yes, that is right. I like to clean. I love my house to be clean and I am constantly picking up after and cleaning up after everyone in the house because I can’t stand a mess. My mother probably finds this humorous considering she used to have to practically beat me to even make a path in my room to walk through because it was such a pigsty.

Okay, there you go! Some randomness for your reading pleasure. 🙂 Some of you probably knew these things, some of you may not have. Now….time for you to join in the fun – GO!

Andrea, Andrea’s Ambrosial Adventures

Rachel, Confessions of a Tangerine Tart
Beth , Supplicious

Katie, Good Things Catered

Kristi, Just When You Thought

I look forward to the answers my dears!  : )

My first blogging attempt…

September 26, 2007 at 7:04 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 3 Comments

Thanks to some friends of mine, I am now obsessed with looking through cooking blogs. Granted, some of them make me feel like I am slacking as a wife when it comes to making dinner, but I love to see new ideas and I am even more excited to start trying some of them!

Don’t get me wrong, I do cook from time to time now and I enjoy it. Finding time to cook what I actually want to cook? Now that is a different story altogether. After a day of working and running to a soccer game, a charity event, a cheer camp performance, etc., it is hard to get motivated to cook a nice meal. Thankfully I am not that busy every night as we have the kids part time only so I do have some nights where I could prepare a decent meal. I don’t think my husband expects June Cleaver or anything, and if he did, well, he would be sorely disappointed wouldn’t he? 🙂

My new goal is to start actually cooking something new at least once a week from here on out. We’ll see how it goes. 🙂 Some weeks are busier than others, so you never know what will REALLY happen.

At the end of the day, I just want to sit down with a nice big glass of wine and relax…can I add cooking into the mix as well?? Wait and see….
